  Alessandro Antonino was born into a well-known family of artists in Naples on 3rd September 1973.
He attended art courses at the Accademia di Belle Arti and joined several groups of young Neapolitan artists. Alessandro lived art to the full and started to paint in earnest.   "an artist whose work shows influence from several sources interpreted through an acute, instinctive sensitivity. He filters the artistic experience of a Guttuso, embraces the echoes of Nabis and Gauguin, mirrors awareness of a symbolism that occasionally leans towards informal Expressionism."

His painting deals with a variety of themes, from stunningly beautiful seascapes to men and women, animals and nature.
Some of his works reflect the long period spent in Naples and the schools that were his original source of inspiration; the 18th and 19th centuries in Naples. Alessandro has gifted the art of the past with a new image "he ignored the experiments carried out by artists such as Arturo Martini, Leoncillo, Giò Ponti and Fausto Melotti in Italy during the 20th century" but sought his inspiration from great masters like Giuseppe and Donato Massa and Francescantonio Grue from Abbruzzo. 
Today he has honed his talent and opted for a particularly striking medium of artistic expression. Each painter’s choice of a school, or artistic vehicle is often esoteric. Linked to emotions proved, colours perceived, the search for a new means of communication.

For Alessandro the decision to use mosaic painting was bound up with his love for his native land with its traditions and multiracial roots. The passage of time, with the colours of the earth in the infinite glory of their subtle nuances of shades, ranging from softly muted to brilliantly full of light, were his initial framework.

Changes came gradually.

In the artist’s hands clay is moulded into form in colour. Impressions. A hidden message in the modern overlay of images from other countries. His brushstrokes grow in bold confidence and his mosaics are scored like sculptures.

His works assume a new complexity. They clay is worked until it takes on its own shape, colours and life. Then fired. "Paul Valéry says that the more adventurous arts, less certain, therefore more noble, are those born from fire."

 

 Alessandro’s art evolves, transformed into painting-sculptures betokening a new vision of reality, what he calls the beauty of imperfection. And this vision dominates his current works.
